General Assembly Continues its General Debate

The General Assembly this morning heard an address by the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, Michael T. Somare, who declared that his country would continue to oppose the testing of new types of nuclear weapons, particularly in the Pacific region. The Assembly continued its general debate, with statements by the Vice-Prime Minister in charge of Foreign Affairs of Democratic Kampuchea; the representative of Maldives; and the Minister for External Affairs of Honduras. Statements in exercise of the right of reply were made by the representatives of Iraq, Jordan and Oman.
