Secretary-General Meets with Economic and Social Council for Special High-Level Meeting with Bretton Woods Institutions

Secretary-General Kofi Annan (centre) told the Economic and Social Council this morning that the International Conference on Financing for Development, which was held in Monterrey, Mexico, from 18 to 22 March, had given new and timely life to the noble quest for international cooperation for development.
The Economic and Social Council met with the Bretton Woods Institutions to discuss the outcome of the Conference and of the meetings of the Development Committee and the International Monetary and Financial Committee.
