Views of East Timor During the Transition to Independence

Students sit at desks and benches made by Portuguese peacekeepers with the United Nations Transitional Administration in East Timor (UNTAET), on the first day of school at Fatu-Ahi. The peacekeepers will also be repairing the roof of this building, which was burned during the post-referendum violence.
