Secretary-General Meets with Designated Force Commander of UNAMSIL

Secretary-General Kofi Annan meets with Lieutenant General Daniel Ishmael Opande (left) of Kenya. In a letter to the Security Council (30 October, 2000), the Secretary-General announced his intention to appoint Lieutenant General Opande as Force Commander of the United Nations Mission in Sierra Leone (UNAMSIL).
