Field Coverage
Croatia: United Nations Transitional Authority in Eastern Slavonia, Baranja and Western Sirmium (UNTAES)
In Eastern Slavonia, the United Nations set up a weekly ""market day"" on Saturday mornings in the zone of separation, a road between the towns of Klisa and Osijek, to encourage interaction between people from different ethnic groups and provide an opportunity for commerce and for family reunions. Many of the 10,000 people coming to this location had not seen each other in over five years because of fighting and the border controls.
