Secretary-General Attends AU Summit in Addis Ababa

Secretary-General António Guterres is in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to take part in the 33rd Session of the Conference of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU). He will address the opening ceremony of the Summit, held under the theme "Silencing the Guns, Creating Conducive Conditions for Africa's Development". The Secretary-General will also participate in a meeting of Heads of State and Government of the African Union Peace and Security Council to discuss the situation in Libya and the Sahel. He will take part in a high-level forum on the Agenda 2063: The Africa We Want, and a number of additional events on gender equality and the environment. The Secretary-General will also hold bilateral meetings.
Mr. Guterres addresses a side event on ""Unlocking the full potential of Africa's Blue Economy - A continental strategy for joint action"" held on the side of the 33rd African Union Summit in Addis Ababa.
