General Assembly Holds Informal Meeting on occasion of Nelson Mandela International Day

The General Assembly holds an informal meeting on the occasion of Nelson Mandela International Day (18 July).
Pictured is Marianna Vardinoyannis, Goodwill Ambassador of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), who is awarded the 2020 United Nations Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela Prize. Ms. Vardinoyannis is an advocate and campaigner for human rights and the protection of children's health and welfare. She recieved the prize together with Morissanda Kouyaté.
The United Nations Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela Prize aims to recognize the achievements of those who dedicate their lives to the service of humanity as guided by the purposes and principles of the UN, while honouring and paying homage to Mandela's extraordinary life and legacy of reconciliation, political transition and social transformation.
