UN Headquarters Turns Off Lights to Commemorate Earth Hour
The United Nations commemorates Earth Hour by turning off the lights at UN Headquarters and other buildings around the world. Earth Hour is a global initiative commemorated annually on the last Saturday of March to focus attention on people-driven solutions to protect the planet and build a sustainable future.
Noting that climate disruption, biodiversity loss and pollution threaten lives, jobs and health the world over, Secretary-General António Guterres said on Saturday that it was essential "to make peace with nature."
