Acting Secretary-General Dedicates the Dag Hammarskjöld Library

At a ceremony in the General Assembly Hall attended by UN delegations and by distinguished librarians from many parts of the world, the new United Nations Library was formally dedicated today by Acting UN Secretary-General U Thant as ""The Dag Hammarskjöld Library"".
A view of the rostrum in the Assembly Hall as Mr. Ernest A. Gross (at speaker's desk), President of the Woodrow Wilson Foundation, addressed the gathering. Seated on the rostrum are (left to right) Henry T. Heald, President of the Ford Foundation, which made a gift of $6,200,000 for construction and equipment of the new library; Acting Secretary-General U Thant and General Assembly President Mongi Slim, of Tunisia.
