UNMISS Force Commander Visit Rokon, South Sudan
Shailesh Tinaikar (not pictured), Force Commander of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), visits Rokon in the Central Equatorian region of South Sudan. Engineers from Bangladesh, serving with UNMISS, stationed at a temporary operating base in the area are rehabilitating roads from the capital Juba to Mvolo. The Force Commander inspected the ongoing roadworks, met with community members and leaders.
Peacekeepers from seven different countries are repairing some 3200 kilometers of roads and main supply routes across South Sudan. Improved roadways are expected to boost communication, trade, and reconciliation among communities.
