After several years of covering these events, I am pursuing an idea that had lingered in my mind for a while: studio portraits which highlight the rich colors, enigmatic details and solemn presence of the participantes and their traditional outfits.

These images are not the outtakes for the main assignment. Rather, they stick together and talk to each other making themselves a different body of work that explores the essence of how it feels to be in such a city—youthful, bustling, warm, and alive.
