Ahmed, a doctor from Syria, is now one of UNHCR’s 392 volunteers tasked with addressing some of the health concerns of over 1 million Syrian refugees living in tented settlements and urban settings in Lebanon, as well as providing them with information and advice about health and treatment at their disposal.
Originally a skin specialist from Idlib, Syria, Ahmed cannot work as a doctor in Lebanon without a special licence.
The father of two year old Elias fled the war after witnessing much death and killings in his hometown.
Ahmed is one of UNHCR’s health focal points. Dedicated and engaged, he goes an extra mile to help refugees and get them the medical aid they need.
Abdul Kareem is getting new more suited crutches, secured for him by Ahmed from aid organisations.

Yesterday (1 Dec), the UNHCR called for urgent international support to the World Food Programme (WFP), which has been forced to suspend food assistance for more than 1.7 million Syrian refugees because of a funding crisis.
