"On Monday Bernardino Leon, the SRSG for Libya will be here with his team, with a group of his team. I think they are about 30, they will be holding meetings here, I still do not know whether there will be proximity talks or direct negotiations. I have asked that question and I am awaiting reply form the SRSG and his team."

The United Nations (UN) announced today (7 Aug) that talks to help find a resolution to the conflict in Libya are slated to start again next week at the Palais des Nations in Geneva.
Ahmad Fazi, Interim Director of the UN Information Service and Spokesperson says today to reporters in Geneva that "on Monday Bernardino Leon, the SRSG (Special Representative of the Secretary General) for Libya, will be here with a group of his team. I think they are about 30, they will be holding meetings here. I still do not know whether there will be proximity talks or direct negotiations. I have asked that question and I am awaiting reply form the SRSG and his team."
Libya has been divided and at war since 2011, following the overthrow of president Muammar al-Qhadafi.
Details are still sketchy about who is taking part in discussions on a peace agreement in Libya. While some of the parties continue to have reservations about what has been achieved to date, it is important for all parties to continue working on jointly addressing and resolving these concerns with the framework of the dialogue process, says the UN. The aim is to form the basis for a peaceful resolution of the political and military conflict in Libya.
The political dialogue at the UN is due to end on Wednesday.
