This clear announcement and message is that all people in armed groups must disarm, because we cannot develop our province that way. We must impress unity and development in order to see progress”.
14. SOUNDBITE (French) Habishuti Seninga Robert, Provincial Member of Parliament:
“First of all, the solution is to sensitize everyone, starting with the attackers themselves, I mean the armed groups, because they themselves are afraid to be killed. We need to sensitize all the communities for a peaceful cohabitation because you will agree with me that if this population leaves here for Rutshuru, the population of Rutshuru will not accept that. It will not be a good thing. As authorities, we have to prevent and secure all populations, wherever they are.”

Thirty people including 3 men, fifteen women and 11 children were massacred on Sunday (27 Nov) in Luhanga, territory of Lubero, in the province of North Kivu in the Democratic Republic Of the Congo (DRC)
They are suspected to have been murdered by the “Mai-mai Mazembe” fighters, who attacked a camp of displaced Hutus armed with guns and knives.
A joint delegation from the Congolese provincial government and the UN mission in the DRC (MONUSCO) visited the area on Monday (28 Nov) to assess the situation.
The dead were buried in the presence of the joint delegation.
