South Korea raised concerns about Japan's export measures as the General Council of the World Trade Organization (WTO) convened for its annual July meeting in Geneva on Tuesday (23 Jul).
The General Council of the WTO, the topmost decision-making body of the Organization outside Ministerial Conferences, started its July meeting on 23 July 2019. The agenda foresees discussions about the functioning of the WTO, review of progress on negotiation topics and other regular house-keeping issues.
In addition, South Korea has asked to make a statement concerning export restrictive measures by Japan. WTO members can present any trade topic of concern for discussion.
The meeting may continue to 24 July.
