Storyline

Almost 70,000 people, including nearly 47,000 children, live in Al-Hol Camp in north-eastern Syria. Most of them fled eastern rural Deir-ez-Zor between December 2018 and April 2019 following an escalation in violence, the majority are women and children in dire condition.

As summer temperatures peak in Al-Hol camp, UNICEF and partners continue to truck nearly two million litres of safe drinking water and water for household use to Al-Hol. Families can fill drinking and household water from over 700 water tanks installed by UNICEF around the camp.

Moreover, a water purification unit was installed to supply 200,000 litres of safe drinking water daily to nearly 13,000 people in the camp. The unit not only makes safe water delivery faster, but it also brings the cost of 1m3 of water from four USD to less than 50 cents.

UNICEF also provided the camp with more than 2,000 latrines and showers.
