“Venezuela, gentlemen presidents, has become fertile land for criminal structures allied with the ELN, which does not know of any borders.”

“My government is in possession of blunt and incontrovertible proof that corroborates the dictatorship’s support for criminal groups and narco-terrorists operating in Venezuela with the goal of attacking Colombia. As President of Colombia, I will hand the evidence that supports this statement to the President of the General Assembly and to the Secretary-General of the United Nations. This 128-page dossier contains probatory material that demonstrates Nicolas Maduro’s regime’s complicity with the terrorist cartels that attack the Colombian people.”

“As President of Colombia, I respectfully make a call that together, within the rule of international law and multilateral instruments, we return freedom and democracy to Venezuela. Ladies and gentlemen, it is time to call things by their name. The Venezuela dictatorship is just another link in the chain of transnational terrorism.”

“The migratory crisis that we warned of one year ago in this very venue, has become a reality. It becomes more acute the longer the dictator stays in power. The Venezuelan tragedy has a name, and we all know it. Colombia’s position, facing the dictatorship, is not about geopolitical disputes, but the necessity the Venezuelan people have to see its democracy completely restored.”

The President of Colombia, Iván Duque, today (25 Sep) told the General Assembly that Venezuela “has become fertile land” for criminal structures allied with the National Liberation Army (ELN) which, he added, “does not know of any borders.”
Duque said, “my government is in possession of blunt and incontrovertible proof that corroborates the dictatorship’s support for criminal groups and narco-terrorists operating in Venezuela with the goal of attacking Colombia.”
Holding a 128-page dossier, he said he will hand the evidence to the President of the General Assembly and to the Secretary-General of the United Nations.
The dossier, Duque said, “contains probatory material that demonstrates Nicolas Maduro’s regime’s complicity with the terrorist cartels that attack the Colombian people.”
The President of Colombia made a call to return “freedom and democracy to Venezuela” and said it was “time to call things by their name. The Venezuela dictatorship is just another link in the chain of transnational terrorism.”
He recalled that during last year’s general debate, he had warned about a “migratory crisis’ as Venezuelans poured into Colombia in large numbers.
He said, “Colombia’s position, facing the dictatorship, is not about geopolitical disputes, but the necessity the Venezuelan people have to see its democracy completely restored.”
