The General Council, the topmost decision-making body of the World Trade Organization (WTO) started today its final 2019 session with an agenda that includes regular topics, such as reports about progress in negotiations, and also items proposed by WTO members.
Any member can raise topics for discussion by the General Council. Any decision requires consensus (no member opposing the action) to be approved.
Topics on the agenda for the meeting, scheduled to last until Wednesday 11 December include: reports on ongoing negotiation, implementation of Bali, Nairobi and Buenos Aires outcomes, renewal of the moratoriums on duties applicable to electronic transmissions and TRIPs non-violation complaints and matters related to the functioning of the Appellate Body.
