“Either we build a multipolar world, where we all coexist with respect, a balanced world with full respect of the United Nations system and international law, or a hegemonic world prevails, dominated by a single hegemon, a unipolar world. That is the contradiction of this historical era. A multipolar world against a unipolar world. A diverse world, in its peace and cooperation, against the hegemon’s world, the imperialist world.”

In a video message addressed to the High-level meeting to commemorate the seventy-fifth anniversary of the United Nations today (21 Sep), Venezuela’s President Nicolás Maduro said, “the contradiction of this historical era” is the choice of “a multipolar world against a unipolar world.”
Maduro said, “either we build a multipolar world, where we all coexist with respect, a balanced world with full respect of the United Nations system and international law, or a hegemonic world prevails, dominated by a single hegemon, a unipolar world.”
Earlier today, marking the UN’s 75th anniversary, Member States adopted a forward-looking political declaration which will be negotiated through an intergovernmental process on: “The future we want, the United Nations we need: reaffirming our collective commitment to multilateralism.”
