3. SOUNDBITE (English) Mikhail Murashko, Minister of Health of the Russian Federation:
"Collected data showed that the vaccine caused strong antibody and cell-immune response. While the clinical trials are going, we have started to vaccinate high-risk population groups. To date more than 100,000 citizens have already been vaccinated. Vaccine Sputnik V is being delivered to all regions of Russia to launch a mass vaccination campaign shortly."

5. SOUNDBITE (English) Kirill Dmitriev, CEO, Russian Direct Investment Fund:
"The first principle is togetherness. We can all solve this problem if we act together, if we forget about politics when we talk about vaccines. And I think the United Nations is a great example and a great testament of togetherness that needs to happen. The second approach is portfolio of vaccines. Not one vaccine can solve the world's problems. We need a portfolio of vaccines. Different vaccines need to work together. And I think the portfolio approach is important, and we wish all the other vaccine candidates great successes. We need them for the safety of people and for the economic wellbeing of the world. And the third principle is equal access. Equal access by wealthy and less wealthy nations to the vaccine. Equal access by citizens in each country to the vaccine. Equal access to production facilities to produce the vaccine. And equal access to the vaccine itself."

7. SOUNDBITE (English) Kirill Dmitriev, CEO, Russian Direct Investment Fund:
"So I believe that the world will definitely need different vaccines from different manufacturers, but I'm absolutely sure that given our production capacity and production capacity from other nations, we jointly with them will be able to really defeat coronavirus through vaccines next year and make return to normal much faster because of the vaccines."

9. SOUNDBITE (English) Kirill Dmitriev, CEO, Russian Direct Investment Fund:
"So, I think Russia, you know, moved forward beyond those politically motivated and biased attacks and is just - you know- very open, very positive about its approach. and that is why that approach is appreciated by lots of countries who have submitted requests for more than 1.2 billion doses of the vaccine. And we ask all of the countries to - you know - forget about politics when we talk and work on vaccines. Really, saving lives is more important than political benefits."

The Russian Minister of Health, Mikhail Murashko, said data collected on the Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine showed that it “caused strong antibody and cell-immune response,” and confirmed that more than 100,000 Russians have already been vaccinated.
In a video message to a virtual event on the Russian vaccine, Murashko said the vaccine was being given to high-risk population groups and is being delivered to all regions of Russia to “launch a mass vaccination campaign shortly."
Kirill Dmitriev, CEO of Russian Direct Investment Fund, said Russia will be one of the first countries in the world to launch mass COVID-19 vaccination campaign. He said the vaccine will be available early next year to other countries as the Fund was building production partnerships around the world. Dmitriev said there were three principles guiding the work moving forward.

Dmitriev said Sputnik V has some 90 per cent efficacy and will cost less than ten dollars per dose. He said the vaccine will be supplied at same price to all countries and can be stored easily. He said more than 40 countries representing 50 per cent of the world population have already put in requests for vaccine orders for more than 1.2 billion doses.

"So I believe that the world will definitely need different vaccines from different manufacturers, but I'm absolutely sure that given our production capacity and production capacity from other nations, we jointly with them will be able to really defeat coronavirus through vaccines next year and make return to normal much faster because of the vaccines."
Dmitriev said there were two types of production arrangements for the Sputnik V vaccine. Russian manufacturing capabilities will be mainly producing for Russia, while supply and productions agreemtns have already been made with India, Brazil, China, Korea and Argentina for some 500 million doses next year. He said four million does needed for two million people will be produced this month alone, and expected production to reach more than 60 million doses a month for 30 million people by March.
The CEO of Russian Direct Investment Fund said efforts to paint the Russian vaccine negatively will not work as the vaccine uses a very different approach in its technology and have proven its efficacy. He said, "So, I think Russia, you know, moved forward beyond those politically motivated and biased attacks and is just - you know- very open, very positive about its approach. and that is why that approach is appreciated by lots of countries who have submitted requests for more than 1.2 billion doses of the vaccine.
