“We are displaced from the southern countryside.cI was pregnant with a quadruplets, and I have two other children at home. They need milk. They need diapers. They need a home. They need shelter. The entire family held on to life and survived the earthquake with four newborns, they need to live! They need milk, diapers, and asthma medication. Because my other two children have asthma, it's important to have the medication ready for them [the quadruplets]; otherwise, their health could be compromised. The entire family is asthmatic.”

Four babies were born via C-section at the UNFPA-supported Al Fardous Hospital in Daret Azza City, located in the rebel-held Jebel Saman district in Aleppo Governorate, shortly after the earthquake that devastated Turkey and Syria.
Khawla Hassan Al-Ali, a 25-year-old mother, gave birth to the quadruplets on February 12th at 2pm. She already had two children before giving birth to the quadruplets. She was assisted by Dr. Bushra Al-Khattab, who had been previously trained by UNFPA. The hospital is run by Syria Relief & Development (SRD), a nonprofit organization.
Khawla had lost her parents years ago and her husband had migrated to Türkiye. She had been displaced to her aunt's home during the earthquake and was brought to the facility to deliver during her 32nd week of pregnancy.
Khawla received immediate support, and her four babies were transferred to the neonatal department in incubators for medical monitoring. Their health conditions are stable and are currently under observation at Al Fardous Hospital.
