“This is not only an illegal war but also a unilateral war. No one is at war against Russia. Neither the European Union, nor NATO, nor the western world. Neither Ukraine. Ukraine is only defending itself. The end of the war for, if we don’t do it rightly, this is not just a war. For Russia may be only losing a war, for Ukraine must be nonexistent, and this is a whole difference.”

Talking about the situation in Ukraine, Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares said, “This is not only an illegal war but also a unilateral war.”
Briefing journalists today (24 Feb) in New York, Albares said, “No one is at war against Russia. Neither the European Union, nor NATO, nor the western world. Neither Ukraine. Ukraine is only defending itself. The end of the war for, if we don’t do it rightly, this is not just a war. For Russia may be only losing a war, for Ukraine must be nonexistent, and this is a whole difference.”

Commenting on yesterday’s General Assembly adoption of a resolution demanding that Russian forces withdraw from the territory of Ukraine, Albares stated, “It was a vote in favor of Ukraine, of the existence of Ukraine, of its independence, of its territorial integrity, of its sovereignty, of its right to exist. But we also voted in favor of the international legality.”
