“Today's signing of the Cooperation Framework is one of our deepening and continued relationship with Brazil, in the hope that we not only can achieve more results here towards the 2030 Agenda, but that we can take this to South-South triangular cooperation, again, re-emphasizing the leadership role that Brazil has to offer for the world.”

On the first day of her trip to Brazil, Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed today (1 Aug) commended the Government’s efforts and discussed raising ambition on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), taking urgent climate action, and reforming the international financial system.
Speaking at an event with high-level government officials on Brazil’s on efforts to accelerate implementation of the 2030 Agenda, Mohammed said “We're in Brazil today because this is where the SDGs and the Sustainable Development Agenda was born in the 90s. And eventually was birthed to the world as a global agenda.”
The Deputy Secretary-General who will be visiting the Amazon, said she looked forward to “see the vision and the commitments of this government, to first of all, seeing the environment and climate action as an integral part of its agenda. But also with people, indigenous people, all people of Brazil at the centre of that attention and in a in a way that we can ensure that it's sustainable.”

The UN Resident Coordinator in Brazil Silvia Rucks, and Brazil’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Mauro Vieira signed a Cooperation Framework on Accelerating the Implementation of the SDGs in Brazil.: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development
