Chad’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Mahamat Saleh Annadif, today (21 Sep) told the General Assembly’s annual high-level debate that the United Nations “is increasingly limited in its ability to embody the very values that make up its essence.”

Annadif told the Assembly that trust “is urgently needed because our world has lost its bearings, especially due to the practice of double standards.”

The Chadian official said his government has committed to operationalizing the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This commitment, he said, “is bolstered by the relevance of the SDGs in light of the context and challenges for development in Chad especially in all of the fields targeted by the SDGs, including the development of human capital, poverty, reduction, and improving the populations living conditions, as well as sustainable environmental management, and the consolidation of peace and stability.”
