“Today, I visited several UNIFIL positions along the Blue Line, where peacekeepers have been working in very difficult conditions for the past month. Current events have only reminded us all of the importance of our work and reinforced our commitment. The situation along the Blue Line is our concern, and the potential for it to escalate beyond control is clear. We continue to urge everyone to cease fire and stop any acts that may put civilians or UN personnel at risk – or bring this beautiful region into conflict.”

Aroldo Lázaro, Force Commander of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), visited Peacekeepers at several UNIFIL positions along the Blue Line one month after the conflict erupted.
He concludes the visit by delivering a message regarding his visit and current condition.
He said, “Today, I visited several UNIFIL positions along the Blue Line, where peacekeepers have been working in very difficult conditions for the past month. Current events have only reminded us all of the importance of our work and reinforced our commitment. The situation along the Blue Line is our concern, and the potential for it to escalate beyond control is clear. We continue to urge everyone to cease fire and stop any acts that may put civilians or UN personnel at risk – or bring this beautiful region into conflict.”
