“UAE, as we have just discussed in the Security Council, must be sanctioned and condemned. And should willingly come to terms with the UN Charter, and abstain forthwith from destabilizing peace order. Storyline

Sudanese Ambassador Al-Harith Idriss al-Harith Mohamed called upon the international community and the members of the Security Council to “recognize the importance of addressing specific complaints with the seriousness they deserve,” urging the Council to “reconsider its approach to convene a meeting that fully aligns” with Sudan’s request and “the provisions of international law.”

The Security Council today (24 May) held a private meeting on the situation in Sudan.

The Sudanese Ambassador told reporters that the meeting came after his goverment submitted a formal request to the Council to discuss the United Arab Emirates aggression against his nation through “its continuous multifaceted support for its local proxy, the genocidal militia of the RSF.”

However, the Sudanese Ambassador said that the topic and format decided by the Council’s presidency are not in accordance with Sudan’s specific request. “Instead, the meeting has been structured as a generalized manner, which we believe dilutes the focus and urgency of our concerns,” he added.

Asked about the government’s efforts to facilitate aid coming into the country, the Sudanese Ambassador said, “There are no constraints whatsoever, or so-called bureaucratic impediments to the aid.”

“This is a bogus narrative, which has been perpetuated repeatedly, by specific circles who wanted to frustrate the activities of the Sudan in this respect,” he said.

Ambassador Mohamed also said, “UAE, as we have just discussed in the Security Council, must be sanctioned and condemned. And should willingly come to terms with the UN Charter and abstain forthwith from destabilizing peace order.”

He added, “They are arming the militia of RSF and they are also engaging mercenaries with sophisticated weapons to overthrow the government of Sudan. And it's blatant and infamous aggression is very well known.”
