1. Various shots, the International Labour Conference opening session with delegates at UN Palais des Nations, Geneva, Switzerland
2. SOUNDBITE (French) Gilbert F. Houngbo, ILO Director-General:
“Since our last meeting in June 2023, I've been wondering about the path of our world: on the one hand, positive and encouraging advances, and on the other, non-stop challenges and crises.”
3. Wide shot, conference room
4. SOUNDBITE (French) Gilbert F. Houngbo, ILO Director-General:

“Geopolitical tensions have not let up. Sources of tension have intensified. The appalling situation in the Middle East has added to the existing crises. The shocking conflicts in Gaza, Yemen, Sudan, Haiti, Ukraine and the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo, to name but a few, remain major issues for humanity and, more particularly, for multilateralism.”

5. Wide shot, conference room
6. SOUNDBITE (French) Gilbert F. Houngbo, ILO Director-General:
“My report pursues the theme of social justice by examining the fundamentals of a just society, on which we must build the opportunities and institutions of decent work. It focuses on the social contract.”
