Storyline

The World Health Organization (WHO) reached Al-Awda and Kamal Adwan hospitals to resupply fuel and critical medicines to help restore and expand the facilities' capacity. A patient was also transferred from Kamal Adwan to a facility in the south.

WHO works with medical teams and health officials to find patients who are not able to get a sufficient level of care where they are, and to move them to another facility or to another country. At any time, about 10,000 people in Gaza need to be evacuated out of the country for medical care, including over 6,000 trauma related patients, and 2,000 patients with serious chronic conditions (e.g. cancer). About 5000 have been evacuated so far. Medical evacuations have been stopped since 8 May 2024 with the closure of the Rafah crossing. This patient is being moved to another facility within Gaza.
