“The story of International Medical Corps is actually a reflection about the key health issues in Gaza. International Medical Corps started a field hospital in Khan Younis. They were told to move because there would be military activities. They moved to Rafah Mawasi area. Again, the second time they had to move as well because of imminent military activities around the hospital. Now they have established a field hospital in Deir Balah, a very well-functioning field hospital. WHO, we have worked with IMC from the start, we are constantly supporting them with essential medical supplies and equipment.”

23. SOUNDBITE (English) Dr Hanan Balkhy, Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean, World Health Organization (WHO):
“This is been one of the visits that has been a crucial eye opener on the devastation effect on the people, the complexities of the injuries that we're seeing here. Right behind me, I have a neonatal level two care area. Before that, I was at an orthopedic unit where there was a very complex external fixation of a traumatized complex fractures of the lower limbs of a middle-aged man. I really hope that the situation becomes calmer soon, and that peace prevails soon, and we can start taking care of our patients in the most dignified and proper way for the betterment of themselves, their family, and the community of the Gaza people. Thank you.”
