2. SOUNDBITE (English) Nicolas Baird, Co-director, Institute of Queer Ecology:
“When we think about climate and climate futures, there's often not enough space on the table for artists - some of the most creative people in the world that we live in. And I think we've been trying to find a space and make a space for artists at that table.”
3. Various shots, ‘Future Ours’ exhibit
4. SOUNDBITE (English) Patricia Domínguez, Artist and co-curator, Future Ours:
“This poster is a collaboration between the artistic collaborative, NOMASMETAFORAS, in Colombia and the UAIIN, the indigenous and independent university of indigenous peoples. We invited them because they have the most interesting and radical dialog between art and indigenous knowledge.”
6. Various shots, ‘Future Ours’ exhibit
7. SOUNDBITE (English) Eduardo Navarro, Artist:
“This is a photograph from the time I transformed myself into a seal, and I fed orphaned baby seals as a way of allowing myself and to dissolve and transform into some sort of paternal mother.”

9. UPSOUND (English) Melissa Fleming, Under-Secretary-General for Global Communications, United Nations:
“We believe also that these works represent humanity's struggle for a more beautiful future.”
10. SOUNDBITE (English) Luise Faurschou, Founding Director, ART 2030:
“This art exhibition, ‘Future Ours’ is a response to the Summit of the Future by presenting artists’ visions for a sustainable future, because we can only create a sustainable future if we can see it. And that's exactly what the artist can help us do.”
11. Various shots, ‘Future Ours’ exhibit
12. SOUNDBITE (English) Hans Ulrich Obrist, Artistic Director, Serpentine Galleries:
“We're very excited that it's here on the occasion of the Summit of the Future at the UN and also at the General Assembly. We can show these 21 artist projects and the projects will also be shown all over New York City at many bus stops in collaboration with JCDecaux. And all these artists have in common is that they are really committed to public art. The idea of public art in terms of accessibility, but also the idea of public art in terms of going beyond the art world.”
13. Various shots, ‘Future Ours’ exhibit
14. SOUNDBITE (English)Jeppe Ugelvig, Co-curator, Future Ours:
“Artists are not only esthetic visionaries, but also community entrepreneurs, builders of businesses and firms, and really, how art can be used not only to illustrate and visualize some of these political issues, but also to lead the way in terms of organization building and institution building.”
15. Wide shot, participants and organizers photo shot
Art2030, a non-profit dedicated to harnessing the power of art for the Sustainable Development Goals, presented the exhibition ‘Future Ours’ at UNHQ.
On the occasion of the Summit of the Future, the Permanent Mission of Denmark hosts the art exhibition “Future Ours” on the UN Plaza.
The large-scale public art project showcases the perspectives of twenty-one artists and collectives from around the world on how to address current and future global challenges.
The exhibition explores how art can reweave a dialogue between social, economic, and ecological equity for the planetary community at large as it confronts passersby to the multifaceted crises impacting our world today and to alternative visions for change.
Extending beyond the walls of the United Nations, the ‘Future Ours’ posters are exhibited on hundreds of JCDecaux bus shelters throughout the five New York City boroughs.
