4. SOUNDBITE (English) Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner General, United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA):
“It's not just an operation targeting on the ground, but we have also political attacks against the agency, against the UN, and basically, we are in a situation where on a daily basis, international humanitarian law is just blatantly disregarded.”

6. SOUNDBITE (English) Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner General, United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA):
“We have more than 600,000 girls and boys living in the rubble and deeply traumatized in the Gaza Strip. And the more we wait to bring them back in the learning environment, the more we take the risk of a lost generation, and the more we take the risk of sowing the seeds for more hatred, resentment and extremism.”

8. SOUNDBITE (English) Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner General, United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA):

10. SOUNDBITE (English) Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner General, United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA):
“The West Bank, if there wouldn't be Gaza, would certainly be the spotlight of our attention. There is a kind of silent war which is boiling. Today, in the security operation ends up with, large scale destruction of public infrastructure. And basically, it's, you know, a kind of collective punishment being imposed to the entire population.”

12. SOUNDBITE (English) Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner General, United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA):
“Our worst fears seem to be unfolding for the time being. We have seen an acceleration over the last week. We heard yesterday about a massive exodus of the population from the south towards Beirut. We also heard that two days ago was the deadliest day since the end of the civil war in Lebanon. And I would like to echo here what the Secretary-General have said to the member states: Don't make Lebanon a new Gaza.”
