3. SOUNDBITE (English) Muhannad Hadi, UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for the Occupied Palestinian Territory:
"I am in the most Dangerous place in the world. Yes, I am in Gaza today. Specifically, I am at Al-Shifa Hospital. There is no safe place in Gaza, as you know. Everywhere is a front line. Hospitals, houses, schools, homes have been turned into a battlefield. Everywhere you go in Gaza is dangerous. I am here after one year of the war, and it's very hard even to tell what this place is. Everything has changed. The war has changed Gaza. I've been to Gaza many times, even before the war, and now I'm here. I can barely recognize the place. And I'm saying this as the winter is approaching. I wonder how people are going to be living when the winter and the rain start coming in. When the floods start attacking the tents. When people have no place to go. When people desperately need humanitarian aid. Aid that is not reaching the people in the manner it should. Not in line with the humanitarian principles, because in line with the humanitarian principles, we must make sure that everybody gets the right aid at the right time without any obstacles. Obstacles are giving the humanitarian workers, the UN and NGOs, a lot of difficulties to reach the intended populations. This has to stop. The war must end. There has been enough suffering for human beings at all sides. The ceasefire must be today. This cannot wait anymore. Look around. Look in the background. Look at the catastrophe of the people of Gaza, but also the people of the region are going through. This must end today".

Storyline

UN Humanitarian Coordinator for the Occupied Palestinian Territory, Muhannad Hadi, visited today (25 Sep) Al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza City to assess the ongoing humanitarian crisis and the medical needs of the population, one year after the war.

During his visit, Hadi met with medical professionals and local authorities to discuss the challenges facing the healthcare system, which continues to struggle under immense pressure.

"There is no safe place in Gaza," said Hadi.

"The hospitals, like every other part of this region, have become frontlines in this conflict. The healthcare sector is in dire need of support to cope with the overwhelming number of injuries, and the lack of essential supplies is putting lives at risk."

Hadi also highlighted the urgent need for humanitarian aid, especially as winter approaches, raising concerns about how the population will endure the cold months in severely damaged shelters.

He called for the immediate removal of obstacles preventing aid workers from reaching those in need, emphasizing that humanitarian efforts should not be hindered by any political barriers.

"The people of Gaza have suffered enough," Hadi stated.

"This war must end, and all efforts should focus on ensuring that the people receive the necessary aid and medical care without delay."

Hadi reiterated the importance of international cooperation and immediate action to prevent further deterioration of the humanitarian conditions in the region.
