“Climate change also poses a significant global challenge, with devastating consequences in vulnerable regions like the Sahel. The recent floods in my country, which affected over one and a half million people, highlight this reality.”

“At the same time, our country is hosting over two million refugees, which represents more than 15 percent of our population. This situation puts a heavy strain on our resources and exacerbates the humanitarian crisis. This number is largely due to a massive influx of Sudanese refugees fleeing the crisis in their country, in addition to the hundreds of thousands of refugees from other neighboring countries.”

Addressing the General Assembly today (25 Sep) Halina added, “Climate change also poses a significant global challenge, with devastating consequences in vulnerable regions like the Sahel. The recent floods in my country, which affected over one and a half million people, highlight this reality.”

He continued, “At the same time, our country is hosting over two million refugees, which represents more than 15 percent of our population. This situation puts a heavy strain on our resources and exacerbates the humanitarian crisis.
