Shotlist

1. Wide shot, ambulances inside the courtyard of Kamal Adwan Hospital
2. Med shot, son of an injured man while manually performing artificial respiration
3. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Injured Man’s Son:
“We were sitting at my uncle's house when we heard the sound of shells. We went out to check on my cousins and were surprised by shells falling on us. My father was hit in the face by shrapnel from the shell. We are trying to coordinate his transfer to the Baptist Hospital in Gaza City, but to no avail, as there is no coordination. As you can see, he is bleeding, there’s no oxygen, and there are no nurses or doctors. We don’t even have a device to check his pulse. The world must see our situation.”
3. Pan right, ambulances arriving at Kamal Adwan Hospital carrying the injured
4. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Injured Woman:
“The ambulance couldn’t get us to the hospital, so we arrived on foot, fleeing barefoot. Now we are sitting here at God's mercy. My injury needs an eye doctor, but there is no eye doctor here. We appeal to the whole world. We are women and children, and there is no eye hospital. They say it was bombed. I’m now here in the hospital because I have no shelter. They bombed the shelter we were in. There are dead bodies in the shelter. We left them behind, and we left my nieces on the street crying.”
5. Pan left, displaced people in the courtyard of Kamal Adwan Hospital
6. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Injured Child’ Mother:
“We are from the Beit Lahia area, and there was heavy shelling there. The ambulances came, and my husband and son went to evacuate the injured. When I arrived, I found my husband and his brother covered in blood, and I found my son without a face. I was in shock and screamed at the ambulances. My husband is dead, and my son is dead.”
7. Med shot, child lying on a hospital bed with his mother
8. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Injured Child’ Mother:
“These people are innocent. We are neither from Hamas nor Fatah, nor do we belong to any organization. We ask the world to stop the war and hope that they stand with us. But thank God, my only surviving son, Ahmed, is now injured with various shrapnel wounds. I hope he will be my support in this world after his father. There is no safe place; schools are targeted, homes are targeted, the streets are targeted, and even hospitals are targeted. There is no safe place. We beg all countries to stand with us to stop the war. This war has killed our children, women, men, and elderly.”
9. Pan right, ambulances in front of Kamal Adwan Hospital
10. Various shots, injured man lying on a hospital bed in Kamal Adwan Hospital
11. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Injured Man:
“We have been here at Kamal Adwan Hospital for four days. There are no doctors, no medicine, and no food. The situation we are living in is dire. My hand has become gangrenous after the injury. We need doctors; we need painkillers to ease the suffering. We call upon kind-hearted people to stand with us.”
12. Various shots, Kamal Adwan Hospital buildings
13. Wide shot, displaced people in front of the gate of Kamal Adwan Hospital
14. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Doctor, Kamal Adwan Hospital:
“At Kamal Adwan Hospital, we were surprised by this incursion. A large number of children, women, and elderly came to us, both as injured and as displaced persons. There was chaos in the camp and inside the hospital. Some doctors and medical staff left the hospital to save their own lives from this sudden incursion. Now, we have a few doctors and medical staff left, but no medicine, amid these circumstances and the random shelling of Jabalia Camp. The people here are innocent; they have no weapons. They are innocent civilians, including children. Some came to us seeking refuge. We are now living in distress, and all we can do is pray and call for help.”

Storyline

As 400,000 Palestinians remain trapped in northern Gaza amid heavy bombardment and the displacement of residents, hospitals in the area are facing a severe shortage of medicine and medical staff.

The Israeli army continues its siege on the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza for the fourth consecutive day; the number of dead and injured continues to rise, with the Israeli army cutting off northern Gaza from Gaza City, making it difficult to transfer the injured.

On one of the beds in Kamal Adwan Hospital, a Palestinian man is seen performing manual respiration on his injured father, a scene that reflects the severe shortage of medical personnel and the dire situation of the besieged residents.

While performing the manual respiration, the young man says: “my father was hit in the face by shrapnel from a shell. We are trying to coordinate his transfer to the Baptist Hospital in Gaza City, but to no avail, as there is no coordination. As you can see, he is bleeding, there’s no oxygen, no nurses, no doctors, and we don’t even have a device to check his pulse. The world must see our situation.”

On another bed, a Palestinian woman tries to comfort her injured child after her husband and another of her sons were killed in an Israeli artillery strike on Beit Lahia, northern Gaza. She cries bitterly and says, “these people are innocent.

The situation at Kamal Adwan Hospital appears chaotic, with a shortage of doctors and medical supplies, especially after the Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza ceased functioning and the northern areas were cut off from Gaza City.

An elderly Palestinian woman who lost her eye says she has not found a specialized eye doctor and could not find a safe shelter except at Kamal Adwan Hospital after the shelter she was staying in was bombed, causing her to lose many family members.

One of the injured patients complains of his wounds becoming gangrenous due to the lack of medical supplies and the absence of specialized doctors to treat him. He cannot get to the hospitals in Gaza City due to the siege of northern Gaza and the blocked roads.
