2. SOUNDBITE (English) Rosalia Bollen, Communication Specialist in Gaza, UNICEF:
“It's 11:30 a.m. and the cease fire has just taken effect. The sound of the planes has stopped. No more planes flying, flying over. No more explosions. Families like this family here right behind me are packing up all their affairs to go back to Rafah, where they're originally from, to see if their house is still standing. Children have been talking to me about all the toys that they've had to leave behind, that they hope to find again when they get back to the family home.”

Trucks loaded with water, hygiene kits, and nutrition items today (19 Jan) entered the Gaza Strip in the State of Palestine, via Kerem Shalom crossing point, as a ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas has officially begun after 15 months of conflict.
The ceasefire removes the significant security and political obstacles to delivering aid across Gaza.
UNICEF Communication Specialist in Gaza Rosalia Bollen said, “it's 11:30 a.m. and the cease fire has just taken effect. The sound of the planes has stopped. No more planes flying, flying over. Children have been talking to me about all the toys that they've had to leave behind, that they hope to find again when they get back to the family home.”
UNICEF and partners are scaling up the response, with truckloads lined up to deliver life-saving nutrition, water and sanitation (WASH), health and essential education and psychosocial supplies for children and families in urgent need.
