3. SOUNDBITE (English) Tess Ingram Communication Specialist, UNICEF:
“This is Gaza City, and we've just brought these fuel trucks, six of them up here in what was a 13-hour journey today. It was long because there's a lot of people on the roads and these people are moving here to the north of Gaza, where they're going to desperately need this fuel. Fuel is the lifeblood of the humanitarian operations. It makes sure that bakeries run, that hospitals run, that water pumps are filled so that they can continue provide safe and clean water for people in Gaza City and beyond. This was an exceptional mission, though. This meant that the interagency convoy was allowed to come up this once with these six tanks. But we need this to happen more often to ensure that fuel flows freely into Gaza City.”

UNICEF spokesperson Tess Ingram, on a mission to North of Gaza to deliver fuel and other supplies, said, fuel is “the lifeblood of the humanitarian operations” as it ensures that “bakeries run, that hospitals run, that water pumps are filled so that they can continue provide safe and clean water for people in Gaza City and beyond.”
UNICEF and partners fuel trucks are lining up, as they wait to be checked before entering northern Gaza. People are also waiting in their cars with their belongings, hoping to enter as well.

As families lined up to move to the north, UNICEF has been handing out nutrition supplies, identity bracelets and leaflets about unexploded ordnance along the way that families are taking to go north.
