Secretary-General António Guterres arrived in Dhaka in Bangladesh today (13 Mar) to start off his Ramadan solidarity visit.
At Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA), he was received by Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossain.
Friday, the Secretary-General will meet with the Chief Adviser of the government, Muhammad Yunus, and he will travel with him to Cox's Bazar. They will meet there with Rohingya refugees who have been forcibly displaced from their homes in Myanmar. And also, they will meet with a host of Bangladeshi communities who have been hosting them.
The Secretary General will also share an Iftar with the refugees. He will also issue a call to the international community to step up their humanitarian assistance for the men, women and children who already suffered so much.
On Saturday in Dhaka, the Secretary General will meet with youth and representatives from civil society. He will also have a joint press conference with the Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossain.
