On Thursday (27 Mar), the World Health Organization (WHO), in partnership with the United Arab Emirates (UAE), evacuated 81 patients and 107 companions from Gaza for specialized medical care.
Despite immense operational challenges and ongoing insecurity, on 26 March, WHO and partners ensured the safe transfer of patients from northern to southern Gaza so they could join the evacuation to the UAE. An estimated 11,000–13,000 people, including 4,500 children, remain in urgent need of medical evacuation.
WHO urgently calls for the immediate resumption of medical evacuations through all possible routes, including the restoration of medical referrals to the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
