On the night and morning of 24 April 2025, a large-scale Russian aerial attack with 12 missiles and 45 drones hit Ukraine’s capital Kyiv, claiming several lives, injuring many, including children and a pregnant woman, and causing massive damage and several fires.
The attacks impacted several districts of the city. In Svyatoshyn, around 25 multi-story buildings have been damaged, and it is estimated that some 1,000 people may be affected.
In addition, a school and private university were damaged.
UNHCR and partners responded promptly and were on-site a few hours after the attack providing emergency assistance.
Emergency shelter kits (ESKs) are being distributed to help people cover broken windows, doors and roofs, and legal and psychological support teams are also on-site to support traumatized and impacted people.
