5. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Adam Al-Najjar, patient:
“We were at home, everything was normal then they launched a missile at our building; smoke came out, then another missile hit us and levelled the entire building with the ground, there were a group of energy panels on the roof, they all collapsed to the ground only one or two left, all my brothers were killed, my father too, may God have mercy on him.”

“Mom and I, God willing, will travel to Italy. God willing, I will continue. I will complete my treatment. God willing, God will heal me. You know, God willing, and I will live with my family in Egypt, God willing. Mom and I.”

“My hand is broken, I have wounds all over my hands and legs, also they injected me with a lot to cure the diseases. Also, I have a problem with my eyes, I can see with both of my eyes well, but with my right eye if am closing my left eye, I see things in double.”

12. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Hala Al-Ghandour, patient:
“My mother and sister were next to me, as I heard them screaming, then the house collapsed on us, I knew they died, because calling their names out and they were not responding. I was under the rubble, and they rescued me, and took me to Al-Shifa hospital, there were no treatment for me there, but they did a surgery where they took out a shrapnel by the urologist. They also informed me that there is no treatment available for me as I had a fracture in my spine and pelvis. I was living on painkillers, when I screamed out of pain, they only gave me painkillers as again there is no treatment available for me at the hospital. They discharged me from the hospital, and later on I have received a phone call telling me that I’ll be traveling for treatment, and here I am waiting to go tomorrow to the crossing boarder so I travel outside to continue my treatment.”

“The World Health Organization called us. We were overjoyed. Even though we were sad for those who have died, but we have to care of the living, and Hala’s treatment means the whole world to me.”

“Osama was suffering from chronic diarrhoea, cough and chest infections. For Osama, the doctors in Gaza didn't have the appropriate equipment to diagnose his condition. Osama. Osama needs a physical examination. What is the reason for this examination since Osama's condition wasn't diagnosed? Osama's condition worsened. He developed severe malnutrition. Osama's normal weight for a 5-year-old child is supposed to be between 16 and 18 kg. Now Osama weighs nine kg.”

“Of course, I am happy that my son is finally here. We want to know the reason behind Osama’s condition. Finally, Osama will get treatment and receive the treatment he deserves, just like the children outside. I hope that they will release all the children in need of treatment from the Gaza Strip as soon as possible. Because. . . Medical supplies are very scarce in Gaza and children are suffering a lot in hospitals.”

22. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Maher Abdullah Salem, grandfather of patient Sand Abu Sala’a:
“His father was killed and he had a serious injury, his entire reproductive system was damaged. His leg was amputated, and his back is injured. As you can see, Sand is in a difficult situation. His psychological condition is destroyed, so much so that he doesn't speak much after the injury. His condition is difficult considering his injury. Doctors agree that his treatment should be outside Gaza strip. We thank the World Health Organization for helping us to have him travel for treatment.”

“We are at the MSF Field Hospital on the Coastal road in Gaza. Today, all patients, companions and care givers that will be travelling tomorrow to Italy and Jordan for the continuum of their care are here so that WHO along with partners can secure the optimal follow up of their care overnight”
