2. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Muhammad Salem Abu Younis, father of Omar Abu Younis:
“Regarding Omar's injury, he was sitting on the window on the third floor. A piece of shrapnel hit him while he was sitting on the window. The shrapnel severed the main artery, tendon, and nerve. And he has tissue damage in his left leg.”
3. Various shots, Omar sitting on a mattress on the floor, playing with an inflated glove, before walking around
4. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Muhammad Salem Abu Younis, father of Omar Abu Younis:
“The most difficult time for me during this period is that my son was injured during the displacement time, and I couldn’t even figure out where to be; either be with my son at the hospital or with my family while getting displaced.”

6. Med shot, Al-Anoud’s amputated right leg
7. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Al-Anoud Suleiman Ahmed Saleh, patient, mother of patient Sanad Saleh:
“My family and I were hit by an Apache helicopter missile. As a result, I was injured in my arm. The bone was open. They had to fix the bone, reattach the flesh, and close the wounds. Also, pieces of flesh were flying from my injured leg. My right foot was amputated and I also I have had an abdominal operation. The shrapnel is still in my abdomen. My son also suffered 25 percent burns to his face, hands, and feet, including second and third-degree burns. He needs plastic surgery abroad due to the lack of medical facilities in the Gaza Strip.”
8. Various shots, Sanad, sitting on her chair, showing the extent of his injuries
9. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Al-Anoud Suleiman Ahmed Saleh, patient, mother of patient Sanad Saleh:
“The hardest thing was the displacement and moving from place to place, but the what affected us the most was my children and me getting injured. This was the deciding factor in my transition from my life as a mother, as a working woman to a woman in need of help because I can no longer depend on myself. I need my husband for everything. To go to the bathroom. To hang out the laundry. To carry the oven that makes the bread. In everything from daily life that I used to do myself. I can no longer depend on myself to do it.”
10. Med shot, Sanad sitting on Al-Anoud’s knee

14. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Al-Anoud Suleiman Ahmed Saleh, patient, mother of patient Sanad Saleh:
“He always loved to play and laughs to anyone in the street who tries to play with him or smile at him. But the injury destroyed many things from this childhood, especially since he has to wear a 3D mask; which is a mask that’s similar to plastic. He has to keep his face in a certain direction. He cannot laugh freely or play freely because the skin has to remain in this condition until treatment abroad.”
15. Various shots, Yaseen sitting in a wheelchair, with his double amputation visible
16. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Fadwa Ali Suleiman Al-Masry, mother of patient Yaseen Al-Ghalban:

17. Med shot, Yaseen wheeling himself forward
18. Med shot, Yaseen sitting in his wheelchair
19. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Fadwa Ali Suleiman Al-Masry, mother of patient Yaseen Al-Ghalban:
“He changed a lot after the injury. He became very anxious, especially since he couldn't adapt to life in tents and sand. The disaster is that we live by the sea, and I had to change his wheelchair three times because the wheels get rusty to the water and from constant sun exposure. And this also affected him as he couldn’t go to school because the ground is not that much of help for a wheelchair and the school is far away.”
20. Med shot, Yaseen and Fadwa talking and smiling
21. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Fadwa Ali Suleiman Al-Masry, mother of patient Yaseen Al-Ghalban:
“God willing, we are leaving for Amman now. From there we will head to the state of Georgia in the USA. The first thing I hope is that Yassin walks and becomes like any other child, learns and achieves his dream.”
