30 JULY 2025, NEAR KEREM SHALOM CROSSING, GAZA
1. Various shots of UN convoy with supplies approaching a crowd of people waiting and then rushing towards the convoy while shots hit the ground from the direction of the Israeli forces.
2. SOUNDBITE (English) Olga Cherevko, OCHA Gaza:
“Today (30 Jul) we went on a mission to pick up food supplies from Kerem Shalom. One of the constraints that we faced was waiting about 2.5 hours at an Israeli forces checkpoint, which by the time we were allowed to pass, we were met on the road by tens of thousands of hungry and desperate people who directly offloaded everything from the backs of our trucks.”

3. Various shots, trucks with supplies are being readied to cross into Gaza
4. SOUNDBITE (English) Olga Cherevko, OCHA Gaza:
“Another constraint that we're facing is at a very limited time to load the cargo, and so we are unable to secure it properly with belts or tarps, which makes it very easily fall off from the backs of the trucks, as the roads are quite rough, and sometimes we have to drive at quite high speeds. So these constraints have to be addressed.”
5. Various shots, convoy making its way into Gaza, amid roads littered with boxes of supplies and assistance looted from previous convoys.
6. SOUNDBITE (English) Olga Cherevko, OCHA Gaza:
“Access must be expanded, much more food needs to be entering, and much more. Many more supplies have to be entering on a regular basis, so that communities have the confidence that supplies are coming and that they will be receiving them and that they will be distributed properly.”

On 30 July, a UN convoy set out to the Israeli-controlled Kerem Shalom crossing to collect food aid and deliver it to people in dire need, which UN teams do every day. On their way back, while they were initially informed by the Israeli authorities that they were allowed to proceed all the way to their destination inside Gaza, they were stopped by Israeli forces around Morag corridor. The team was allowed to move about two and a half hours later and by the time they entered the road, they were met by thousands of desperate, starving people, including women and children. The people rushed towards the convoy while shots hit the ground from the direction of the Israeli forces. A man, who was wounded and bleeding, was transported to a health point with the help of the team. Despite the Israeli announcement of tactical pauses and some easing of restrictions on entry of aid, starving people continue to come under fire as they wait for aid trucks or attempt to offload them. No one should have to risk their lives to eat. These incidents must stop. Civilians must always be protected.
