“While he was trying to get the water going, a suspicious object exploded in his hand; they say it’s a bomb or a shell from a quadcopter, as a result the major damage was to his legs, and the shrapnel caused minor injuries to others who were around him, but the major injury was his; both of his legs were almost amputated, they had platinum installed in both of them, he also has bone fractures , and he had two toes amputated from both feet, two other fractures in his abdomen, a fracture in his bladder.”

“God willing, with the travel opportunity we got, we hope that he will recover his health state, be able to walk like before, and we are hoping for him to recover and get back to where he was before the injury on 30th of April 2025.”

“She was playing on the swing, and bombing happened right next to her, which resulted in her scalp pealing off, they moved her to the hospital, but her condition was extremely difficult; she suffered more infections, they performed a surgery but it did not do anything as she still needs a hair transplant.”

“I wish that I would grow hair and receive treatment because here in Gaza there is no medicine or treatment. I wish that I would grow hair and have a hair transplant so that I can play with the children and go to school and comb my hair.”

Mohammed is the type who can't sit still. He likes to move. He likes to run. He likes to play football, but he ended up getting injured. Mohammed always tells me, "I want to go back to the way I was, to go back to walking."

“When they called, and talked to me, they told me that they are the World Health Organization. I was very happy. Of course, I was extremely happy, and I felt joyful, because the feeling that my son is going to get treated abroad is the best feeling ever, because I want him to get treated and recover his health back like before, may God help him.”

“We are escorting together with the Palestinian Red Crescent and CADUS NGO, the people to Kerem Shalom crossing and they will be medically evacuated to the United Arab Emirates.”

On Wednesday (20 Aug), WHO supported a large-scale medical evacuation of critically injured and sick patients to the UAE.
WHO thanked the government and health workers of the UAE for continuously providing specialized care to patients from Gaza. More than 15, 600 patients in Gaza remain in urgent need of specialized medical care. WHO calls on more countries to step forward to accept patients, and for the restoration of medical evacuations to the West Bank, including East Jerusalem
