The Israeli army has intensified its bombardment of the remaining residential buildings in Gaza City, in the northern part of the enclave, issuing last-minute evacuation warnings before demolishing them.
The most recent attack targeted the Al-Ru’ya residential tower in western Gaza, home to more than 30 families, in addition to dozens of displaced people sheltering in tents set up around the building.
UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric, on Friday expressed concern over announcements of further attacks on high-rise buildings in the near future and said, “these developments are forcing growing numbers of people to flee in a place where almost everyone has already been displaced — many of them multiple times — and where famine has also been confirmed.”
