“We underline the need to hold accountable those who support terrorism through funds, weapons, safe havens, or media outlets, and those who allow the transfer of terrorists. We pursue our efforts for the return of displaced persons to their homes following the liberation of our territories from the scourge of terrorism.”

“Today in Iraq, we are pursuing sustainable socio-economic development by strengthening investments in our capacities, and so as to pave the way for a reduction of reliance on oil and the promotion of the diversification of our economy through the strengthening of agriculture, the industry and renewable energy.”

“The Middle East has witnessed enough war, tears, bloodshed, and grief. Many opportunities for peace and dignified life have been lost. It is high time to end this urgently and to forge a new path for peace, justice, and cooperation. Iraq is willing to walk that path and to support those who will join it.”

The President of Iraq, Abdul Latif Rashid, today (23 Sep) told the General Assembly’s annual high-level debate that the Middle East “has witnessed enough war, tears, bloodshed and grief,” and said it was “high time to end this urgently and to forge a new path for peace, justice and cooperation.”
Rashid said Iraq “is willing to walk that path and to support those who will join it.”
The Iraqi President underlined “the need to hold accountable those who support terrorism through funds, weapons, safe havens, or media outlets, and those who allow the transfer of terrorists.”
He said Iraq is pursuing efforts “for the return of displaced persons to their homes following the liberation of our territories from the scourge of terrorism.”
