2. Various shots, WHO team in discussion with hospital leaders
3. SOUNDBITE (English) Dr Maher Ayyad, Director, Al-Ahli Hospital:
“The Al-Ahli Arab Hospital now is the only working hospital in the north of Gaza. We received more than 400-500 patients daily in a small outpatient emergency room, where all the junior doctors are taking care of those patients. Some of those patients were injured from the war or badly wounded, and we cannot take care of them. They are treated on the floor. The ICU, which we have is just three beds only, and we don't have the specialists to take care of such type of injuries. Most of the doctors and the staff left for the south of Gaza, and we are running the hospital with the minimal staff who can take care of hundreds and hundreds of patients. Our needs are great. We need a lot of supply, we need a lot of equipment, we need a lot of extra people to take care of those casualties.”
4. Various shots, interior field hospital tents, showing patients with various injuries
5. SOUNDBITE (English) Dr Richard Peeperkorn, Representative, Occupied Palestinian Territory, World Health Organization (WHO):
“WHO today brought in medical supplies, mainly trauma supplies, IV fluids, saline, but also IV antibiotics and some lab supplies. We also brought in food for patients and staff. And on the way to the hospital, very sadly, we had to take, we took two dead bodies and brought them here to the morgue, and hopefully they will get a dignified burial.”
05 OCTOBER 2025, AL RASHID ROAD EN-ROUTE FROM SOUTH TO GAZA CITY
6. Various shots, WHO and emergency medical services retrieving a dead body from the road, on their way to Al-Ahli hospital

7. SOUNDBITE (English) Dr Richard Peeperkorn, Representative, Occupied Palestinian Territory, World Health Organization (WHO):
“What is really causing a lot of anxiety here, is that the war is still ongoing. We hear bombardments all over the place. People still get killed and maimed. We see it in Al-Ahli, we hear it from PRCS (Palestine Red Crescent Society) and the other hospitals. This horror needs to stop. The hostages need to be released as soon as possible. We need a ceasefire. We need peace now.”
8. Various shots, operating theatre of a patient being prepped for surgery
This week, the World Health Organization (WHO) reached Al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza City to deliver critical trauma care and laboratory supplies - enough to meet the needs of over 5,000 people - along with food and water for patients and staff.
Most senior doctors have left, leaving only a handful of junior physicians and no specialized surgeons to manage the influx of the wounded.

The hospital remains overwhelmed, operating at more than twice its capacity, with around 400 emergency patients arriving each day amid ongoing nearby hostilities and severe shortages of medical supplies.
