3. Med shot, patient Dima, sitting on a mattress on the floor
4. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Amal Aziz, Aunt to Patient Dima:
“The place where Dima, her mother, and her siblings lived was targeted. Twenty-three people from that house were killed, including Dima's four siblings and her mother. Eight hours later, she was pulled from under the rubble in very critical condition. She was in a severe coma and paralyzed in both legs.”
5. Various shots, phone screen showing Dima before and after her injury
6. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Amal Aziz, Aunt to Patient Dima:
“A year after her mother and siblings were killed, she also lost her father. Her father had been with her for a whole year. After that year, she lost her father too, so Dima became the sole survivor. She no longer has a mother or a father or any siblings.”
7. Various shots, Dima and her aunt Amal, talking and hugging
8. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Amal Aziz, Aunt to Patient Dima:
“She was in a coma for the first three months, and had no knowledge of the loss of her mother and siblings, therefore, and after she woke up, she kept asking me “Where’s my mom? Where’s my mom?” I started gradually telling her, until she realized that her mother and siblings were killed. Her psychological state was very difficult; she was constantly silent and barely able to cry. She was completely withdrawn and silent until her father and I were able to gradually bring her back to life. Of course, no one ever truly recovers from loss. She had lost the most precious thing to her.”
9. Various shots, Dima and her aunt Amal, talking and hugging.
10. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Amal Aziz, Aunt to Patient Dima:
“Honestly, we tried so hard to get Dima to go abroad for treatment because her treatment isn't available here.
