“Our senior official leading regional engagement on arbitrary detention, Muin Shreim, was in Muscat earlier this week on Tuesday. There, he held meetings with Ansar Allah's Mohammed Abdulsalam, with Omani officials, and a number of resident ambassadors. The discussions focused on the immediate and unconditional release of all UN personnel detained by the Houthis. This follows Muin’s recent visit to Riyadh, where he met with the President of the Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, as well as senior Saudi government officials, also ambassadors representing the Permanent members of the Security Council.”

6. SOUNDBITE (English) Stéphane Dujarric, Spokesperson for the Secretary-General, United Nations:
“Once again, we call for the immediate and unconditional release of all arbitrarily detained personnel, not only from the United Nations, but also NGOs, civil society, and diplomatic missions. We and our partners should never be targeted or detained while carrying out our mandates for the benefit of the people we are serving. These detentions directly affect millions of Yemenis in need, limiting their access to critical assistance.”

A United Nations spokesperson today (7 Apr) called “for the immediate and unconditional release of all arbitrarily detained personnel” in Yemen as regional efforts to free them continue.
The spokesperson for the Secretary-General, Stéphane Dujarric, told journalists in New York that the UN’s senior official leading regional engagement on arbitrary detention, Muin Shreim, had held meetings on Tuesday in Oman with Ansar Allah's Mohammed Abdulsalam, Omani officials, and a number of resident ambassadors “on the immediate and unconditional release of all UN personnel detained by the Houthis.”
This meeting, Dujarric continued, “follows Muin’s recent visit to Riyadh, where he met with the President of the Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, as well as senior Saudi government officials, also ambassadors representing the Permanent members of the Security Council.”
The spokesperson said, “we and our partners should never be targeted or detained while carrying out our mandates for the benefit of the people we are serving,” adding that “these detentions directly affect millions of Yemenis in need, limiting their access to critical assistance.”
73 UN staff remain detained by the de facto Houthi authorities, as well as staff from NGOs, civil society, and diplomatic missions.
