That is the true nature of these groups, which prosper by exploiting the most vulnerable. This is absolutely intolerable. This must end.”

In Haiti, UN chief appeals for international support to achieve security
Visiting Haiti, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres called on the international community to stand with the country's people.
Guterres travelled to Port-au-Prince, Haiti earlier today (16 Jun) for a solidarity visit, during which he met people whose lives have been impacted by violence.
He saw firsthand the humanitarian and security challenges facing the country, as well as efforts by national authorities and the international community to restore stability and to support the Haitian people.
The Secretary-General also assessed the support provided by the United Nations to Haiti in facing its multidimensional crisis, including the logistical and operational support to the Gang Suppression Force, which has been done in accordance with Security Council resolution 2793.
The Secretary-General also met with the Prime Minister of Haiti, Alix Didier Fils-Aimé.
Later in the afternoon, Guterres also spoke to the press.
