2. Wide shot, Security Council
3. SOUNDBITE (English) Nickolay Mladenov, High Representative for Gaza, Board of Peace:
“Gaza cannot be disarmed in a fortnight. What the Roadmap fixes is not a date of completion, but the order in which things happen, and the standard of proof required at each stage. The National Committee is composed of independent Palestinian professionals. Every police officer they will hire will be vetted, and those who fail vetting will not carry a weapon.”

5. SOUNDBITE (English) Nickolay Mladenov, High Representative for Gaza, Board of Peace:
“Israel is not a signatory to the Roadmap and in fact we never asked it to be one. We asked Israel to reaffirm its commitments under the Comprehensive Plan and the Sharm el-Sheikh Protocol. While it has reaffirmed that framework, important questions of implementation still remain open. ”
6. Wide shot, Security Council
7. SOUNDBITE (English) Nickolay Mladenov, High Representative for Gaza, Board of Peace:
“OCHA reported continuing shortfalls in funding and UN agencies are warning that the pipeline for food and other critical humanitarian items is at risk as early as the end of September. What is not settled is shelter. Winter is around the corner, and Israel's present policy on quality shelter is not acceptable. The Board of Peace urges Israel to allow better shelter into the Strip, for dignity, for health and for safety.”

9. SOUNDBITE (English) Nickolay Mladenov, High Representative for Gaza, Board of Peace:
“If this ceasefire collapses and the Strip spirals into another full escalation, there will be no Roadmap to return to, no administration to deploy, and nothing left of the ground to rebuild. That would not be a setback. It would be a point of no return for everyone.”
10. Wide shot, Security Council
11. SOUNDBITE (English) Ramiz Alakbarov, Acting Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator, United Nations:
“Addressing the dire situation in Gaza remains paramount. People in Gaza continue to endure intolerable conditions and immense hardship - and they are losing hope. Israeli airstrikes resumed on 12 August following a week-long lull, while military activity including shelling, drone attacks, and ground operations never stopped.”
12. Wide shot, Security Council
13. SOUNDBITE (English) Ramiz Alakbarov, Acting Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator, United Nations:
“Around two-thirds of Gaza remain inaccessible or subject to severe access restrictions, leaving civilians confined to overcrowded and insecure areas. The needs are immense and urgent. Humanitarian actors, especially INGOs, continue to face operational constraints related to access, supplies, and funding, with the 2026 flash appeal only 40 percent funded. More than 10 months into the ceasefire, this situation is unacceptable. Key bottlenecks must be addressed.”
14. Wide shot, Security Council
15. SOUNDBITE (English) Ramiz Alakbarov, Acting Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator, United Nations:
“The situation in the West Bank remains dire. Large-scale settler attacks continue with virtually no accountability for these crimes. Israeli security forces have frequently failed to protect Palestinians from settler attacks and, in some cases, have reportedly facilitated or participated in such violence. Israel, as the occupying power, must ensure that the civilian population is protected, and perpetrators are held to account.”
16. Wide shot, Security Council
17. SOUNDBITE (English) Ramiz Alakbarov, Acting Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator, United Nations:
“Yesterday, the Israeli authorities forcibly entered and unlawfully seized the UNRWA Kalandia Training Centre in East Jerusalem. On Monday, members of my team participated in a PA-led diplomatic visit to the Centre, which plays a critical role in the community. I reiterate my call on Israel to act in accordance with its obligations under international law. All efforts to seize, control, or expropriate UNRWA facilities must cease.”
18. Wide shot, Security Council
19. SOUNDBITE (English) Riyad Mansour, Permanent Observer to the United Nations, Palestine:
“We must act resolutely now or the horrors we have seen so far will only be a prelude for horrors to come. A different future is possible if we act together today.”
20. Wide shot, Security Council
21. SOUNDBITE (English) Noa Furman, Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Israel:
“Yesterday, under trying to find a solution for years, the municipality took possession of the compound to open a school for the coming academic year, providing local children with quality education closer to home.”
